Join us at this year’s SPAA Fringe on Cockatoo Island during the inaugural Cockatoo Island Film Festival for a night of speed networking presented by Metro Screen. Take a boat ride across the harbour to meet your next wave of collaborators and contacts. Speed Networking is always a highlight of the Metro Screen events calendar. You’ll meet fresh new faces including producers, directors, cinematographers, writers, editors, actors, animators, VFX specialists, and digital media professionals. It’s also a great opportunity to sweep up this year’s hot-shots on the rise for your creative team.
 Our last networking event at VIVID completely sold out. This time entry is FREE but registered guests will get first priority. It will book out so get in early.

The Speed Networking Event is always a highlight of the Metro Screen event calendar. You’ll meet fresh new faces including producers, directors, cinematographers, writers, editors, actors, animators, VFX specialists, and digital media professionals. It’s also a great opportunity to sweep up this year’s hot-shots on the rise for your creative team. Our last networking event in June completely sold out. This time entry is free but registered guests will get first priority, it will book out so get in early.

Be warned- speed networking is fast and loud! So come prepared with business cards or pre-load your phone with BUMP and your work so that you can swap contacts quickly. You can keep the conversation going at one of the many festival bars or check out one of the films screening at the Cockatoo Island Film Festival which is also happening on the island alongside SPAA Fringe.

Some Handy Tips for Speed Networking:

  • Bring some business cards and a notebook and pen.
  • If you have an iPhone, load your contact details (including a headshot) into your phone and install the BUMP App for fast and easy contact sharing.
  • Things move pretty fast so think about who you want to meet and what you want to ask them.
  • Update your online profiles – The Melting Pot, The Loop, IMDB, Vimeo, website.
  • Practice your spiel on a friend or colleague.
  • Have fun! Don’t worry, everyone is nervous.

SPAA Fringe is an industry conference presented by the Screen Producers Association of Australia. There are a range of workshops, roundtables, one-on-one sessions, panel discussions, film screenings and social networking events to get involved in. SPAA Fringe offers a unique opportunity for the emerging sector to spend quality time with established filmmakers, TV execs and other industry professionals.

In 2012 SPAA Fringe will take place during the inaugural Cockatoo Island Film Festival, running from 24 – 28 October. Cockatoo Island Film Festival will feature the largest international competitive film program in Australia, showcasing films to the Australian and International screen industry, along with an estimated 45,000 festival-goers over 5 days on the stunning Cockatoo Island in the middle of Sydney Harbour. Festival Ferries will be in operation from 24-28 October, exclusively servicing Cockatoo Island during the Cockatoo Island Film Festival. Regular Festival Ferries will depart from King St Wharf, with tickets available to pre-purchase online or on departure from Cockatoo Island.
